GKU "State Archive of Socio-Political History of the Kurgan Region" is the former archive of the Kurgan Regional Committee of the CPSU. The archive contains documents of socio-political bodies and organizations of the XX - beginning of the XXI centuries, the personal origin of the period of the late XIX - beginning of the XXI centuries. and the personnel of the liquidated organizations. The total storage volume is 1827 funds, including more than 742 thousand storage units. The scientific reference library includes about 9150 copies of books, 8 thousand periodicals and other types of printed materials.

At ElarScan A2-600R it is planned to digitize both text and photo documents, and the equipment will also help in scanning various archival documents and periodicals at the request of users.

For October 2024, documents from the period of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 are being digitized, - said Irina Aleksandrovna Panisheva, deputy director. - In total, about 16.5 thousand storage units of the specified period were identified from the lists. These are documents, mainly from the funds of party and Komsomol bodies and organizations, as well as personal origin.

The archive noted that the received electronic copies will be in demand, first of all, by users of archival information, both in the reading room of the archive and remotely in a single archival information system. In the future, digital copies will make up a full-fledged electronic fund for use. In addition, high-quality copies of documents are exhibits of exhibitions.
