2024: Arrest for organizing Cryptex cryptocurrency exchange criminal community
On October 4, 2024, the Zamoskvoretsky Court of Moscow, at the request of the investigation, arrested Sergei Ivanov, who is considered the organizer of the criminal community of the cryptocurrency exchange. In addition to Ivanov, five people were sent under house arrest in a criminal case.
The decision of the Zamoskvoretsky District Court of Moscow granted the petition of the preliminary investigation bodies to elect a preventive measure against Sergei Sergeevich Ivanov in the form of detention, the Moscow courts of general jurisdiction said in a statement. |
Ivanov and other persons are involved in a criminal case in which the activities of the Cryptex cryptocurrency exchange and the UAPS anonymous payment system are being investigated. According to investigators, the criminal community was created in 2013. It is alleged that the accomplices conducted illegal activities on the exchange of currencies, cryptocurrencies, the delivery and reception of cash, the sale of bank cards and personal accounts. The main clients of the services, according to the case file, were attackers who laundered criminal proceeds through these platforms. During searches, more than 1.5 billion rubles were seized from the suspects. Investigators also found that the defendants in the case own Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Porsche, Tesla Cybertruck, boats, snowmobiles and a Robinson helicopter.[1]
