Plans to invest ₽60 billion in the development of the resort

On October 18, 2024, it became known that the governor of the Chelyabinsk region, Alexei Teksler, announced large-scale investments in the development of the Ajigardak ski resort. By 2028, it is planned to invest about ₽60 billion in the project. This statement was made at the All-Russian conference call on preparations for the winter tourist season of 2024-2025.

According to TASS, the investment is aimed at expanding the network of ski slopes and improving the infrastructure of the resort. The agreement on the development of Ajigardak was signed between the government of the Chelyabinsk region and the management of the project company in June 2024 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

₽60 billion will be invested in the development of the Ajigardak ski resort in the Chelyabinsk region

Ajigardak is one of the oldest ski resorts in Russia with a history of more than 40 years. Currently, the resort has 14 ski slopes and 7 lifts. The implementation of the new project is designed to make Ajigardak one of the best ski resorts in the country.

The governor noted that in the upcoming winter season, 30 ski complexes will operate in the Chelyabinsk region. Most of them will begin work in the second half of November 2024. The total length of 52 trails in these resorts is about 57 km.

In addition to the ski infrastructure, a network of tourist routes is developing in the region. Currently, there are more than 140 trails with a total length of over 1.1 thousand km, including a unique route through the Ural Mountains.

The development of Ajigardak and other ski complexes in the region is part of a strategy to increase the tourist attractiveness of the Chelyabinsk region. It is expected that the implementation of the project will not only improve the quality of recreation for fans of winter sports, but also make a significant contribution to the economic development of the region.[1]

Investments in the implementation of a large-scale project exceeded ₽20 billion, which made it possible to significantly expand and modernize the existing infrastructure.

According to Interfax, the project was implemented by Project Company Ajigardak LLC with the support of the Entrepreneurship Development Fund of the Chelyabinsk Region - My Business Center. As a result of the upgrade, the number of ski trails at the resort increased from 14 to 47, and their total length reached 63 km. All routes are equipped with modern cable cars, lifts and artificial snowmaking systems, which allows you to significantly extend the ski season.

Significant changes have also occurred in the hotel infrastructure of the resort. New three- and four-star hotels, apart-hotels and chalets were built, which increased the hotel fund by 1.5 thousand rooms. A variety of entertainment infrastructure has been created, functioning all year round.

The updated resort "Ajigardak" is able to receive up to 10 thousand people at a time. It is expected that the annual number of visitors will grow from 50 thousand to 500 thousand people, which will significantly increase the tourist attractiveness of the region.

The project was implemented within the framework of public-private partnership. The construction of supporting infrastructure, including gas distribution networks, water supply and sanitation, as well as a transformer substation, was financed from the federal budget.[2]
