2024: Launch of a center for the production of special chips for detecting allergies by drop of blood
In mid-October 2024, Sechenov University announced the creation of the first Advanced Center for Molecular Allergodiagnostics in Russia, which began producing special allergists. These innovative devices allow you to detect allergies one drop of blood, which greatly simplifies the diagnostic process and makes it available to residents of all regions of the country.
According to the Sechenov University, the new center is the result of cooperation with the Medical University of Vienna as part of the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership program and with the support of the Russian Science Foundation. Alexander Karaulov, Head of the Department of Clinical Immunology and Allergology at Sechenov University, noted that the development of a new allergy kit is specially adapted for residents of various regions of Russia.
In Russia, theThe Center for Molecular Allergodiagnostics plans not only to produce allergy chips, but also to conduct telemedicine consultations, which will make high-tech diagnostics available even in remote parts of the country. This is particularly important given the increasing prevalence of allergic diseases.
Rudolf Valenta, professor at Vienna Medical and Sechenov Universities, founder of molecular allergology, stressed that the creation of such a center is the first step towards unifying diagnostics based on the chips produced here. In the future, the center's capabilities are planned to be expanded to solve interdisciplinary problems, including the diagnosis and treatment of not only allergies, but also autoimmune, infectious and oncological diseases.
In addition to producing diagnostic chips, scientists at Sechenov University are working to create innovative vaccines against allergies. Alexander Karaulov announced the receipt of a patent for a vaccine against allergy to cats, which is already ready for clinical trials.[1]
