2024: Completion of migration from Teradata PAC to SberData Platform
As part of import substitution, Sberbank completed a project to transfer data warehouses to its own SberData Platform solution. As a result, the bank was able to completely decommission Teradata hardware and software systems. Representatives of Sberbank reported this to TAdviser on October 17, 2024.
According to Kirill Menshov, senior vice president, head of the Technologies block of Sberbank, the first migration to its own data platform took place at the end of 2022. During 2023, most blocks rebuilt their processes and switched to using SberData Platform storage.
In 2024, the bank fully completed the migration to the storage facilities of its own assembly. In total, 205 teams representing all divisions of the bank were involved in the project, and the number of active project participants exceeded 2000 people, said Kirill Menshov.
In general, as the top manager concluded, the transfer of the bank's storage facilities to its own platform removed significant restrictions for data researchers due to the architectural decision of a foreign solution, and also significantly reduced the cost of storing data.
"The implementation of the project has increased the availability of data technologies for a wide range of users and ensured the further penetration of big data and artificial intelligence solutions into the bank's business processes," added Kirill Menshov, Senior Vice President, Head of Technologies at Sberbank. |
