2024: Start of Sales
In mid-October 2024, the Polish company MAB Robotics introduced the Honey Badger robotic dog. The peculiarity of the dog is that it can move on four legs even under water.
According to the creators, Honey Badger is a highly mobile four-legged robot designed specifically for working in difficult conditions, for example, on rough terrain. The versatile, durable and multifunctional design makes it suitable for both industrial and R&D applications. Due to the high reliability and dust and moisture protection of the key units (IP54/IP67 standards), the machine is able to function even with full immersion in water.
Honey Badger measures 60 × 40 × 25-50 cm and weighs 12 kg. The maximum payload weight is 2 kg. The robot has 12 degrees of freedom. Power is provided by a 6 A·ch battery pack, which will last a maximum of two hours of battery life. It takes about six hours to fully replenish the energy supply. The equipment includes a lidar, a thermal imaging camera, an RGB camera, a Wi-Fi wireless controller and additional sensors. The dog can work at temperatures from 0 to + 40 degrees Celsius.
Robopes is capable of running on grass, concrete, gravel and other surfaces. The speed of movement in normal mode is 1 m/s. MAB Robotics says Honey Badger can overcome a variety of obstacles and adapt to the environment while maintaining balance and resilience in challenging environments. The machine can be used in search and rescue operations, for surveying the area, etc.
The small size of the robot, its waterproof design and strength allow you to work in conditions in which other types of mobile robots face difficulties, for example, in underground tunnels, narrow passages or in wetlands, notes MAB Robotics.[1] |
