2024: Product Announcement
In early November 2024, the Japanese division of Coca-Cola and Fuji Electric introduced the world's first vending machine using hydrogen cartridges to generate electricity. A sample of the new machine will be shown at Expo 2025 in Japan, where everyone can try it out.
The developers of this vending apparatus believe that hydrogen fuel could become a new alternative energy source that can reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Hydrogen energy is well suited for use as a power source for vending machines, as it allows them to operate in all weather conditions and does not require much space to operate. However, the developers note that in order to create a network of such vending machines, it is necessary to solve a number of problems, including creating an infrastructure for the supply of hydrogen and optimizing the total cost.
The new vending machine consists of two units: the vending machine itself and the generator. The hydrogen cartridge is loaded into the generator and electricity is generated by a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen contained in the air. The generated electricity charges the battery, and he transfers it to a vending machine and uses it for work.
As the next generation vending machine, independent of weather or location and not emitting CO2 during operation, one of the new vending machines will be installed at the Expo 2025 site in Osaka, which, according to the idea, should become the "Laboratory of Life of Modern People," where advanced technologies from Japan and abroad will be combined. The Japanese division of Coca-Cola and Fuji Electric said they intend to continue to look for ways to achieve a decarbonized society through the development of environmentally friendly vending machines.[1]
