Education

Dmitry Vankov graduated from the Arkhangelsk State Medical Academy in 1995, as well as St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University with a degree in Finance and Credit. He underwent professional retraining in the "Organization of Health and Public Health."

Career

2013-2015

For 13 years he worked as an anesthesiologist, resuscitator, head of the department of anesthesiology - resuscitation of the Cherepovets city hospital, Ph.D. Since January 2013, he served as head of the cardiovascular center, and later as deputy chief physician of the Vologda Regional Clinical Hospital. Then in February 2015 he headed the medical institution.

2024: Appointment as Head of the Department of Health of the Vologda Oblast

In November 2024, Dmitry Vankov was appointed the new head of the Health Department of the Vologda Region. This was reported on the official website of the regional government.

Previously, the chair of the head of the Department of Health was occupied by Anton Eremeev, who came to the Vologda region from the Samara region. He served in that position for less than a year. The reasons for the resignation of Anton Eremeev were not disclosed.

Dmitry Vankov is a candidate of medical sciences, a member of the Association of Anesthesiologists-Resuscitators of the North-West of Russia.[1]

2025: Appointment as Head of the Ministry of Health of Zaporizhzhya Oblast

On July 18, 2025, Dmitry Vankov was appointed to the post of head of the Ministry of Health of the Zaporizhzhya Region. In this position, he replaced Boris Alexandrov, who moved to another place of work.

"I am sure that with his high competencies and professionalism Dmitry Vitalievich [Vankov] will make a great contribution to the development and further reform of the healthcare sector of the Zaporizhzhya region," said the Governor of the Zaporizhzhya region Yevgeny Balitsky.

The head of the region also stressed that Alexandrov, as minister, fulfilled all the tasks of reorganizing the region's health care. In particular, numerous medical facilities in various municipalities are being repaired and restored, medical equipment is being purchased, and a system of preferential drug provision for citizens is working. A state program is being implemented to attract and consolidate personnel in the industry. New types of medical care have been opened.[2]
