In 1992 he graduated from the Faculty of History of the Moscow Regional Pedagogical Institute named after N.K. Krupskaya with a degree in History Teacher
In 1998 he graduated from the Moscow State Law Academy with a degree in Jurisprudence.
In 2002 he graduated from the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia with a degree in International Relations.
Career
2000-20023
In 2000, he was transferred to work at the MGIMO Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, where he headed the legal department, later the legal department
Since January 2011 - Vice-Rector for Legal and Administrative Affairs. In parallel, until January 2014, he served as vice-rector for personnel policy of the university.
Since 2023 - Vice-Rector for Legal, Administrative Issues and Digitalization.
2024: Appointment of Diplomatic academy Russian Foreign Ministry as the rector
In October 2024, Sergei Shitkov was appointed rector of the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry. In this post, he replaced Alexander Yakovenko, who, according to the press service of the academy, completed his work as rector due to the expiration of the contract.
Speaking at the reporting and election meeting of the collective, Yakovenko thanked his colleagues for working together to develop the academy, expand its capabilities to train Russian ambassadors and improve the qualifications of Russian and foreign diplomats.
According to Kommersant, Yakovenko's departure is due to the fact that on October 21, 2024, he will turn 70 years old - this is the age limit for heads of state and municipal universities. Then his contract with Deepakademia expires.
Sergey Shitkov is the author of publications in leading scientific journals. He explores the issues of genesis and transformation of the paradigm of property law in the history of law, the problems of state sovereignty and self-determination of peoples in the historical and legal aspect, and the processes of digital transformation.[1]
