2024: Construction of a network of data centers

The T-Technologies group will create its own network of data centers. By 2027, it is planned to complete the initial stage of construction and start the work of two data centers, and by 2031 both data centers will reach full capacity. Such information was shared with the TAdviser portal by representatives of T-Bank on November 27, 2024.

According to them, the capacity of each data center will be 50 MW, and the number of servers will be over 100 thousand, which, in turn, will allow the group to enter the top 5 companies in terms of data center capacity in the corporate market segment and will become the basis for the development and stable functioning of the entire T-Technologies ecosystem.

The network of data centers will ensure the uninterrupted operation of the T-ecosystem and resources for such high-load tasks as processing and storage of data arising from servicing more than 50 million customers. According to the group, more than 14 million people use T-applications every day, and support processes over 500 thousand client requests, and half of them are automated consultations in chats.

In addition, it is expected that the construction of data centers will support the expansion of business and the development of new areas launched in 2024: the universe of AI assistants for various areas of life - from investments to travel; advertising platforms for business and others.

The own infrastructure of data centers will also allow T-Technologies to reduce dependence on external restrictions and maintain generally stable growth amid a shortage of computing power.

Data centers are designed to house servers and other IT hardware. The new data centers will allow the group of companies to combine leased capacity with their own, providing more than 7 thousand places to accommodate servers and equipment.

According to the idea of ​ ​ T-Technologies, unlike universal solutions on the market, its own infrastructure will allow you to more accurately take into account the individual needs of the business and create specialized IT solutions on their basis. In data centers, in particular, it is planned to use direct free air cooling technology, which will reduce energy consumption and negative impact on the environment. As a result, the project indicator of energy efficiency (PUE) will be, according to the group representatives, 1.15, which is significantly lower than the global average - 1.6.

According to the company's specialists, the construction of its own data centers will allow T-Technologies to save 26 billion rubles until 2030, and in the future, annual savings will amount to about 10 billion rubles due to the partial abandonment of expensive infrastructure leases and the combination of leased and own space.

Data centers will be built in special economic zones (SEZs), which will affect the development of regional IT infrastructure and give the company the opportunity to purchase IT equipment at lower costs.

Data centers will be built in special economic zones from scratch and using free cooling technology, which will be the first in world practice large-scale industrial experience in its application in the financial industry, - said Vyacheslav Tsyganov, Information Technology Director, Vice President of T-Bank. "It is planned that this concept will not only significantly reduce the cost of creating and operating a data center, but also use the heat generated by the data center to heat nearby urban buildings."
