2024: Company executives sentenced to 6 years in prison for supplying fake cancer drugs
On December 12, 2024, the Barnaul court sentenced the leaders of Alvitfarm LLC to 6 and 6.5 years in prison in a general regime colony for supplying fake oncological drugs to a regional oncology dispensary worth more than ₽30 million.
According to Interfax, the directors and commercial directors of the company were also fined ₽1,5 million each and banned from holding managerial positions in the field of drug trade for a period of 3 and 3.5 years, respectively.
The investigation established that in 2020 the company entered into agreements with the Ministry of Health of the Altai Territory and the Altai Oncological Dispensary for the supply of two expensive vital drugs for the treatment of oncological diseases.
The heads of Alvitfarm provided forged certificates of quality and authenticity for poor-quality drugs, passing them off as original drugs. The purchase of medicines was carried out at the expense of budget funds.
During the investigation, it turned out that the drugs were not purchased from the official manufacturer. During their transportation, the conditions of storage and transportation were grossly violated - the temperature regime was not observed, and delivery was carried out in ordinary cars along with foreign objects.
The company's leaders were charged under two articles of the Criminal Code of Russia. The first is the sale of poor quality medicines on a large scale by a group of persons by prior agreement (paragraph "a" of part 2 of article 238.1). The second is fraud on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 159).
The Investigative Department of the TFR in the Altai Territory and the regional prosecutor's office conducted a comprehensive investigation, during which the guilt of the leaders of Alvitfarm LLC was proved. At the time of publication, the court verdict did not enter into legal force.[1]
