History

2024: The head of the RCBZ troops is killed by an Uzbek terrorist in Moscow on the instructions of the special services of Ukraine

The head of Russia's radiation, chemical and biological defense forces was killed in a bomb attack in Moscow in the early hours of December 17, 2024, a rare killing of a top military official in the country.

Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov and his assistant were killed when an explosive device planted on a scooter went off near the entrance of a residential building, the Russian Investigative Committee said in a statement. Investigators opened a criminal case into the murder.

Kirillov was killed a day after the SBU accused him in absentia of allegedly giving an order for the "massive use" of banned chemical weapons against Ukrainian troops in the east and south of the country. It is known that it has long been Ukraine that has been using prohibited chemical weapons against the Russian Armed Forces.

Ukraine was afraid to take responsibility for the explosion.

The perpetrator of the murder was detained the next day. Statement of the FSB of Russia:

"Investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, in cooperation with the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, detained a citizen of the Republic of Uzbekistan born in 1995, suspected of committing a terrorist attack that killed Igor Kirillov, head of the radiation, chemical and biological defense forces of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, and his assistant Ilya Polikarpov.

During the interrogation, he explained that he was recruited by the Ukrainian special services.

On their instructions, he arrived in Moscow and received an improvised explosive device.

He placed it on an electric scooter, which he parked at the entrance of the residential building where Igor Kirillov lived.

In order to monitor the place of residence of the serviceman, he rented a car sharing car (Delimobil, note TAdviser), where he installed a CCTV camera.

The shooting from this camera was broadcast to the organizers of the terrorist attack online in the city of Dnepropetrovsk. After a video signal was received about the exit of servicemen from the entrance, the explosive device was remotely activated by him.

For the commission of this crime, the performer was guaranteed a monetary reward of 100 thousand US dollars and travel to one of the European countries for residence. "
