The Irkutsk region acquired 49 unmanned aerial vehicles for forest fire formations and forestry in the amount of ₽73,5 million under the national project "Unmanned Aerial Systems." The first batch of 28 quadcopters arrived in the region on December 18, 2024.
According to the press service of the government of the Irkutsk region, the Minister of Forestry of the region Pavel Kirdyapkin noted the importance of acquisition for the region. Drones will be used to monitor the forest fire situation, quickly detect and extinguish forest fires, as well as to prevent illegal logging.
The Irkutsk region became one of the first regions of Russia to receive funding from the federal budget for the purchase of UAVs as part of a national project. Delivery of the remaining part of the drones is scheduled until the end of December 2024.
The purchased quadcopters are manufactured in Russia and are designed for real-time video monitoring. Each device is equipped with a video camera with 4K resolution and a thermal imager for a comprehensive survey of remote objects, including in the infrared range. Uninterrupted video broadcast is provided by an interference-resistant communication channel.
The technical characteristics of drones meet the requirements for fulfilling the assigned tasks: the weight of each device is 1.5 kg, the flight range reaches 10 km, the maximum flight altitude is 4 thousand meters above sea level, the horizontal speed is 15 m/s. Drones are capable of functioning at air temperatures from -20 to + 40 degrees Celsius.
The distribution of UAVs is planned for almost all territories of the Irkutsk region. Training of operators to control new equipment will be carried out at the training center of the Irkutsk base of aviation and ground protection of forests. The purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles was carried out completely at the expense of the federal budget as part of the implementation of the national project "Unmanned Aerial Systems."[1]
