2024: Opening of multi-regional object storage
On December 19, 2024, Selectel opened a multi-regional object storage with a choice of location in different federal districts - Moscow and St. Petersburg. This solution allows you to host data, providing greater reliability, performance, and disaster tolerance for your infrastructure.
Adding multi-regionality to the S3 Selectel store opens up the possibilities for modern IT commands, which can now create buckets in different geographical locations, choosing the optimal location for storing and processing data. This approach allows you to post data to multiple data centers, minimizing risk and ensuring maximum disaster tolerance. Critical data can now be duplicated between regions, keeping them more than 750 km apart. In the event of a failure in one region, whether it is problems with the Internet or power supply, or even a large-scale cataclysm, data will remain available from the backup region.
This functionality also helps improve performance by reducing data access delays. The geographic location of the storage closer to the load points significantly reduces the latency. This is especially true for a business that has representative offices in several regions at once or throughout [1], and needs a flexible IT infrastructure, placing data where necessary, based on its tasks.
One of the availability zones of our multi-regional storage is located in the gis-1 pool and is suitable for storing data in accordance with the requirements of the 17th order of the FSTEC, which is extremely important for companies that work with state information systems, "said Alexander Grishin, Selectel product manager. - Our team is already working on expanding the geography of storage, and in the near future we plan to launch new regions and availability zones. |
