2024: Launch of self-service cash desks in Omsk maganism
The network of grocery discounters Low-prices"" launched the first self-service cash desks. This was CSI announced on December 19, 2024.
The network was faced with a shortage of personnel. It was difficult to increase the number of cashiers at traditional cash desks on weekends and holidays, and the introduction of self-service cash desks could solve this problem. CSI became the supplier of cash registers, to launch the format in a pilot store, the retailer chose CSI K kiosks with Set SCO software.
The pilot store was chosen carefully: it was important for the retailer that employees could devote the necessary time to the project and give detailed feedback to optimize placement, interface and other nuances for comfortable use of CSR by customers. We chose a hypermarket in Omsk, where 3 self-service cash desks were installed in addition to 4 classic cash desks.
Since the launch in October 2024, the share of purchases at self-service checkouts has been in the range of 19-24%. The convenience of the format was appreciated by buyers with a basket for 4-5 products - such a majority, it is important for them to go through the cash line quickly and not stand in queues. And at peak hours, when the number of buyers increases, CSRs allow you to unload cashiers and speed up the purchase - the average time is 54 seconds. The share of canceled purchases in the self-service area is about 1.47%, which is much lower than the standard value of 5%. The time to cancel checks is a little more than 1 minute - the cash desks are not idle and are ready for new buyers.
We settled on CSI K - we deliberately chose a mass model, since an important factor was the presence of a vendor in the warehouse and the ability to ship as needed. We also took into account the available space in the store and the availability of the functionality we need. We are satisfied with our choice - neither buyers nor staff had any difficulties in mastering the interface. The pilot project showed that the decision paid off. Further plans include the launch of a second store and the systematic implementation of self-service cash desks where they will be needed, said Hafizov Rafael, head of the IT service of the Low Price trading network.
