2025: Launch on t/o "Alioth" and "Ladoga"
The Volga-Balt administration confirmed the successful testing of the Skipper software, designed to manage the collection of state electronic navigation charts. Sitronics announced this on April 29, 2025.
The system was tested on the Alioth and Ladoga t/c, which made it possible to assess its functionality and compliance with the needs of navigators.
For trial operation, the Skipper software installed on and laptop the receiver/were used, GPSGLONASS which provides a minimum set of sensors for operation. The system allows you to plan sailing routes, put user objects on maps, as well as monitor the movement of the vessel in real time. Important functions are to store track data and locate the vessel on the GENCG using visual landmarks.
As part of the testing, the navigators were trained in the use of Skipper software, which included the installation of state electronic cards and normal operation:
- vessel movement and track recording without a tuned route;
- setting/loading/unloading of the route and movement along the route;
- Use of custom objects (points, polylines, polygons) and movement along the route
- observation.
According to the results of testing the Skipper software, its high quality and compliance with the needs of navigators for displaying electronic navigation charts and information support of the navigator when solving navigation problems were noted. Proposals have been received for visual interface improvements, which are planned to be implemented in the 2025 season.
Boaters positively assess the use of the solution, ease of use and the effectiveness of software for providing navigation tasks. The introduction of the system increases the level of safety and digitalization of navigation on the inland waterways of Russia, - commented the general director of Sitronics KT Evgeny Shishenin. |
2024: Delivery of 60 PAC with electronic mapping system "Skipper"
Sitronics KT delivered for Volgo-Balt Administration 60 PAC with an electronic mapping system Skipper"." This was Sitronics announced on December 27, 2024.
The complexes are designed to equip 60 vessels operating in the Volga-Baltic basin of inland waterways. The Skipper software was developed by Sitronics KT (part of the Sitronics Group).
The complex provides control of the collection of state electronic navigation charts (GENK) of S-57/S-63 format, their display and interfacing with navigation equipment, as well as display of navigation information and target situation according to AIS data.
The system allows you to plan the ship's sailing route, put user objects on the map, monitor the ship's movement relative to a given route. The system provides for storing the data of the traveled path, determining the position of the vessel on electronic navigation charts (ENK) by visual landmarks and other functionality. Data sources for EX "Skipper" are receiver/ GPS, GLONASS ship navigation systems and AIS.
The software package is installed on a 13 "tablet and comes with GPS/Glonass receivers, keyboard, trackball and GSM communication module. The use of this decision is planned on ships that are part of the core of the technical fleet of the Volga-Balt Administration FBU and operating in the Volga-Baltic basin of inland waterways.
The use of Skipper software on basin administration vessels will contribute to the objectives of ensuring the safety of navigation using State Electronic Navigation Charts. This is becoming especially relevant due to the increase in freight and passenger traffic and the need for accurate navigation, the development of digital technologies and infrastructure, "said Yevgeny Shishenin, Development Director of Sitronics KT. |
