MediPad

MediPad is the application for the mobile device iPad interacting with the Medical Information System (MIS).

The application allows specialists at any time and in any place to receive the clinical record of the patient, analysis results, x-rays, to appoint diagnostics and treatment.

Thus, the doctor can work with an information system as without departing from the patient, and on other end of the planet – work requires only Internet connection through Wi-Fi or 3G.

MediPad is optimized for work with iOS and with display resolution of iPad. The interface of the program has a rich set of components, interactive widgets. The main attention is paid to ergonomics during the work with large volumes of data.

In January, 2011 it became known that Corus Consulting developed a prototype of the interface of the Federal standard medical information system for iPad. Commercial operation which will begin in 2011 in one of federal scientific clinical centers, - the Russia's first experience of use of tablet computers in medicine.

It allows specialists at any time and in any place to receive the clinical record of the patient, results of his analyses, x-rays, to appoint diagnostics and treatment. Thus, the doctor can work with an information system as without departing from the patient, and on other end of the planet – work requires only Internet connection through Wi-Fi or 3G.

FTMIS is developed by Corus Consulting in 2008 within the government contract according to the FTP "Electronic Russia (2002-2010)", the customer – the Federal agency on information technologies, the Ministry of Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation.

"A traditional problem in design of the interface of any specialized information system – how to provide the user with the maximum quantity of information, remaining at the same time within acceptable load of bodies of perception of the person, – the senior consultant of CORUS Consulting company Maria Martynova comments. – Any attempt "throw out" all available data set on the device screen inevitably leads to the fact that the user cannot concentrate on really important indicators that is the reason of "a human factor". In medicine similar miscalculations in design of the automated workplace are inadmissible".

The main MediPad screen is the beginning of work with the patient. In the program the concept of "widgets" – the panels containing key indicators is implemented. Each panel can be developed in the separate full-fledged screen with the functions.

Being in any screen of the application, the doctor can switch to other patient, having just selected it from the list on a shortcut bar. Switching between patients perhaps at any moment of the session with a system.

For each patient the doctor can create his own "main screen": for this purpose a set of the preset "widgets" – the panels containing key indicators of a certain area of information on the patient (survey, diagnostics, treatment) is provided in the program. Thus the main objective at design of the interface is reached – the user sees the main thing without noises.

Use of the screen keyboard in MediPad is minimized. Everywhere, where it is possible, the user works with the choice of the offered values from lists. Besides, context search on values of the thesaurus (similar T9) and expanded work with collecting of statistics on the most often used thesaurus nodes is implemented.

An important role in the application is played by calendars: in a display mode of appointments per day time of introduction of medicine is shown on a time scale – it is possible to see intersection of medicines on time and also in general to check an appointment picture for this day.
