DNS Zone Transfer Capability

Servicepipe has added the ability to transfer the DNS zone and export the file in the Secure DNS Hosting product. The company announced this on March 20, 2025.

DNS zone transfer makes it possible to use DNS of another provider in addition to the main secure DNS Servicepipe. This may be necessary for companies where internal information security requirements require a backup DNS to eliminate a potential point of failure, or who want to reserve an important link in the infrastructure. Thanks to the transfer, the data on the backup server will be relevant without the need for additional editing.

Another feature of the product - the ability to export a file from a DNS zone - is convenient in many cases. For example, when there is a need to make significant changes, doing so through an interface or API is not always convenient. Therefore, you can upload, modify, and reload the file.

Exporting files is also a backup tool that makes it possible to roll everything back if there is an error in the DNS zone, just returning to the previous version. File export itself is not a backup. But if necessary, the user can use the API to automate the storage of zone backups in his storage, so if necessary, he will have the opportunity to take one of the old copies and load it back using import.

Other product updates include statistics on the number of requests and the type of record, as well as the ability to edit SOA records.

We believe that security can be convenient and therefore our updates are aimed at increasing the fault tolerance of DNS, and at the same time increasing the convenience of the DNS zone administrator, "said Svetlana Pakhalueva, Servicepipe product manager.

Availability of two service connection options - Primary and Secondary

Servicepipe has improved the Secure DNS Hosting product. Two options for connecting the service are now available - Primary and Secondary. The company announced this on January 15, 2025.

By connecting the main (Primary) DNS hosting, the company delegates the Servicepipe domain and subsequently independently manages the DNS zone in the control panel, making changes to the DNS records. Secondary DNS connects in parallel to the main one and not only blocks parasitic requests, but also takes over some of the excessive legitimate DNS traffic. If the main, standby DNS continues to accept user requests and give the last current status of the domain zone.

DNS servers and infrastructure are protected by the Servicepipe DosGate adaptive network threat filtering system. This ensures stable DNS services and minimizes the number of IT infrastructure failure points during DDoS attacks on DNS.

The connection takes no more than 10-15 minutes. The solution is fully automated - the DNS zone is configured in the control panel or through the API.

In addition, in 2024, the fault tolerance of the solution increased due to the geographical distribution of DNS-servers in certified data centers Tier III To Moscow in and. St. Petersburg

DDoS attacks on DNS are one of the most serious cyber threats, if DNS services fail, then even with the layered protection of the IT infrastructure and web applications connected, online services will not be available to users. Attacks on Russian hosting providers 2022-2024 demonstrated this clearly, - said Svetlana Pakhalueva, product manager of Servicepipe Secure DNS Hosting. - And therefore secure DNS is what is called a "hygienic minimum" for everyone who wants to guarantee the fault tolerance of their online resources and effectively manage cyber risks,
