2024: Series revenue growth to $500 million
In 2024, Turkey received more than $500 million for the sale of rights to television series filmed in the country. The popularity of such content is growing rapidly, including among Russian viewers, and almost 1 billion people watch Turkish TV shows around the world. Such data in mid-January 2025 was released by the Turkish state news agency Anadolu.
It is noted that Turkey supplies its television series to more than 150 countries. Taking into account various digital platforms, this figure is approaching 200. Residents of the Middle East and Latin America are showing the greatest interest in Turkish series. During 2024, the country exported about 300 series. A significant part of the audience of Turkish TV series are women aged 40 and over.
Earlier it was reported that the interest of Russians in Turkish TV shows continues to grow rapidly. So, according to the provider's estimates Dom.ru , online movie theater Movix during the first half of 2024, residents of the Russian Federation spent 1.026 million hours watching such content only on the Sapphire and Start World TV channels. Residents show the greatest interest in Turkish TV shows,,, and St. Petersburg Yekaterinburg. Saratov Users Samara spent Volgograd 561 thousand hours watching such content in online cinemas integrated into the Movix video service in January-June 2024, which is almost 45 hours per viewer.
It is also noted that the growing popularity of Turkish TV series in the world contributes to the development of tourism in the country. The fact is that many fans of such products are eager to visit the filming locations and plunge into the atmosphere of the film. This opens up various opportunities for Turkey in terms of attracting guests, and therefore creates an additional source of income.[1]
