2025: Appointment as CEO of Gloria Jeans
The Gloria Jeans clothing chain changed its CEO for the second time in six months: on January 13, 2025, Alexander Tarasov took this position instead of Maxim Basov.
According to Kommersant, citing a source close to the retailer, Basov's departure may be due to the fact that his views on business development differ from the views of the company's owners.
Daria Anikina, partner of the consulting company Ward Howell, in a conversation with the newspaper, commented on the change in the leadership of Gloria Jeans by the fact that in conditions when domestic retailers seek to quickly take the place of Western stores that have left the Russian market, they prefer "managers who quickly and in a short period are able to launch the necessary processes and show results."
According to Tatyana Dolyakova, head of the ProPersonnel recruiting agency, a frequent change of leadership can be harmful to the company's work, since "the team does not have time to reconfigure all business processes."
It is assumed that Maxim Basov, after leaving Gloria, will focus on personal projects in the IT sphere. For example, in December 2024, he increased to 73.57% his share in the service for improving the functioning of the brain "Wikium."
According to Vladimir Chernusya, head of retail real estate at the IBC Real Estate consulting company, Gloria Jeans' share among fashion retail operators in retail by January 2025 is about 15%. At the same time, according to him, the company "suspended its active development."
Earlier, expansion into the markets of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan was planned, but in the current economic realities, these plans were revised, "Chernus added, commenting on the change of the general director of Gloria Jeans.[1] |
