2025: Attracting ₽150 million investments from the ex-president of Rostelecom
Former President of Rostelecom Sergey Kalugin invested ₽150 million in Novabiom, a company specializing in digital research of the human microbiome. This became known in January 2025 from the report of the analytical company Eqiva.
The Novabiom project, created in 2022, has established partnerships with the largest medical networks in Russia, including Mother and Child, Medsi and EMC. The company offers a comprehensive microbiota survey costing ₽29,9 thousand.
The technological platform is based on modern sequencing methods and artificial intelligence, which has processed more than 35 thousand scientific publications and the same number of microbiome profiles to form personalized recommendations.
According to the publication, the main clients of the service are three groups: young adherents of preventive medicine aged 30-50 years, older people interested in active longevity, as well as patients with various diseases.
Sergey Kalugin has significant leadership experience in the telecommunications industry and public administration. In addition to the post of president of Rostelecom, he served as Deputy Minister of Communications of Russia and is on the board of directors of Mother and Child Group of Rostelecom.
The investment in Novabiom reflects growing interest in the biotechnology sector in the global market. The company provides not only test results, but also advice from nutritionists with individual recommendations on nutrition and the use of dietary supplements.
The development of digital technologies in medicine and the growth of demand for personalized solutions in healthcare create favorable conditions for the development of such innovative projects on the Russian market.[1]
