2024: Continued implementation of AI
Progress-Agro Group continues to introduce artificial intelligence into the work of agronomists. The company announced this on January 24, 2025.
Technologies based on artificial intelligence are increasingly penetrating all spheres of human activity. And agriculture is no exception. Optimizing production processes, reducing costs and costs, predicting crops are only part of the aspects that the introduction of artificial intelligence helps to achieve.
The Progress Agro Group of Companies has been implementing a project for the differentiated introduction of nitrogen fertilizers for winter wheat using an AI program for the second agricultural year. The first tests carried out in February 2024, as part of feeding culture according to the model proposed by the AI program, showed an increase in profitability compared to the control scheme by more than 5%.
In this regard, in the summer of 2024 artificial intelligence , it was used for the main application of fertilizers on an area of 2,800 hectares. Work took place from August to October on 25 fields. For each of them, by loading everything necessary into the program modules: information from rotation tables to soil analysis and additional appeal of artificial intelligence to open sources, data such as co, information satellites the necessary schemes for applying fertilizers were formed according to the established goal.
According to experts, the program prepares optimal recommendations not for the entire field, but separately for the so-called "pixel" - a section of 10 by 10 meters, which indicates how many and what elements need to be made to achieve the set result. To accurately follow the scheme in the Progress Agro Group of Companies, a special technique for differentiated fertilization is used.
The introduction of AI-based technologies greatly facilitates and optimizes the work of agronomists. The use of artificial intelligence has accelerated the preparation for fertilization by 2 times, and the symbiosis of the program with smart equipment and other information complexes allows you to create a single high-tech system that allows you to significantly increase the yield of crops and their profitability. Of course, it is too early to sum up the results of the experiment - we will wait for the harvest, but already on satellite images we see a difference in wheat seedlings compared to control fields, and we also note a 3% reduction in the cost of fertilizers themselves, - said Elena Popova, a leading specialist in agricultural chemist at Rassvet JSC. |
In addition to the main application of fertilizers for February and March 2025, it is planned to feed winter wheat also according to the scheme proposed by artificial intelligence. As noted in the Progress Agro Group of Companies, if the experiment is completed successfully, then for the next agricultural year of work these works will take place on an area of 6,000 hectares.
