2025: Production Launch
A team of Perm engineers led by Mikhail Borisov at the end of January 2025 announced the launch of the production of BlizzardBuster snowblower robots designed to clean sidewalks, parking lots and adjoining territories.
Developers who previously created combat robots for sports tournaments have already received 50 pre-orders, mainly from European countries. So far, three copies of the device have been released.
The snowblower robot operates on a tracked platform with an installed rotary mechanism and can operate in three modes: manual control, remote control using a monitor and autonomous mode with the ability to remember and repeat the cleaning route.
The device is equipped with a camera and can be controlled remotely using a remote control and FPV glasses, through which the operator receives an image from the camera. The battery life of the machine without recharging is eight hours.
The development of the project is monitored by the Governor of the Perm Territory Dmitry Makhonin. Mikhail Borisov, who heads the development team, is also known as the captain of the St. John's Wort team participating in the Battle of Robots championship.
The author of the project stressed that BlizzardBuster is not designed to compete with large snow removal equipment, but was created to work in hard-to-reach areas where traditional snow removal machines cannot get.
The new snowblower robot is produced at the facilities of the Krasnokamsk Mechanical Repair Plant. The cost of the device varies from ₽1,1 million to ₽1,5 million, depending on the configuration.
According to Nail Davletshin, a specialist in the field of public utilities, this development is of interest to the industry, but requires practical verification in real operating conditions.[1]
