2025: Daughter gave phone scammers 50 million rubles
On February 6, 2025, it became known that the daughter of the deputy chairman of the board of the public movement "For Saving the People," State Duma deputy Olga Krasilnikova, was a victim of telephone fraudsters. The attackers lured 50 million rubles from a 21-year-old girl, intimidating her with criminal liability for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
According to RIA Novosti, referring to information received in law enforcement agencies, the attackers called Krasilnikova's daughter for several days. They introduced themselves as officers of the FSB and Rosfinmonitoring, claiming that the girl was suspected of transferring funds to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, the scammers stated that Krasilnikova's daughter faces a long prison sentence. As a result, the frightened girl took money and jewelry worth more than 50 million rubles from her parents' safe and handed it over to the criminals.
The swindlers convinced the student that her mother's money and jewelry must be declared in order to avoid criminal liability, and for this to transfer everything to the courier. The freshman believed and gave an unknown woman in two days money and jewelry worth over 50.6 million rubles, - said the law enforcement agencies. |
Telegram channel Baza adds that the incident occurred at the end of January 2025. The fraudulent scheme was implemented in several stages. At first, the attackers introduced themselves as employees of a cellular operator, informing about the end of the contract for the provision of communication services and requesting a code from SMS to restore access. Then the girl allegedly received a call from the State Public services specialists, warning about the hacking of her account. And then false officers of the FSB and Rosfinmonitoring joined the scheme.
The law enforcement agencies reported that the courier who received the money and valuables was detained: a criminal case was initiated under the article on fraud on an especially large scale.[1]
