2025: Digital Ruble Operations Testing with Universal QR Code

On February 14, 2025, MTS-Bank PJSC announced testing payment transactions with digital rubles using a universal QR code.

MTS Bank customers - individuals, made payments in digital rubles for services. This solution will allow bank customers to pay for purchases in stores, cafes and other retail outlets quickly and safely in the future.

The payment process is similar to payments using the Fast Payment System (FPS). With the help of a universal QR code, a buyer can choose one of the convenient payment tools presented by the seller: SBP, pay services, installment services or digital rubles. Users no longer need to choose between different applications or systems - just scan the code and confirm the payment.

After completing the pilot, MTS Bank plans to scale the project, which will make payment with QR codes available to all bank customers.

In December 2024, MTS Bank successfully made B2B payments in real digital rubles. The counterparty company paid for communication services with this form of national currency instead of the usual non-cash payment.
