2025: Development of plastic for the electric vehicle "Atom"

Moscow Scientific and production enterprise "Polyplastic" has developed high-tech plastics for, the electric vehicle Atom release of which starts in 2025. This was announced on February 24, 2025 by the Minister, Governments of Moscow head Department of Investment and Industrial Policy Anatoly Garbuzov.

The comfortable investment climate created in the city and the pool of developed support tools allow metropolitan enterprises not only to expand capacities and increase production volumes, but also to bring new products to the market, as well as actively engage in the development of high-tech materials. They find application in a variety of industries, including the automotive industry. Thus, the capital company has created polymer materials for the first serial domestic electric car, which have the necessary consumer qualities for the successful operation of the vehicle. Their use made it possible to implement the ideas of car designers in the interior and exterior of an electric car, - said Anatoly Garbuzov.

With the start of production of an electric car, the Moscow company will be able to ensure uninterrupted production of materials, since they are created from Russian raw materials. This significantly reduces dependence on imported supplies and guarantees the stability of the production process.

Polypropylene-based materials developed for parts of the bumper group of an electric vehicle were separately studied for radio permeability. Studies were carried out in the frequency range used in modern automotive systems.

When choosing polymer materials for the exterior of an electric vehicle, an important condition was the correct interaction of the painted plastic parts of the bumper group with the improved ADAS driver assistance system used in the Atom. The results of testing the radio-permeable compound confirmed the possibility of correctly setting up this system, - said Ekaterina Smirnova, head of the Avtoprom department at Polyplastic.

The electric car reflected global trends in reducing the weight of vehicles by replacing large-sized metal exterior components with plastic ones. The Atom brand uses polymer wings made of high-tech capital-made material in the design of an electric car. Their use, in addition to weight loss, solves the problem of easy replacement of body "consumables."

In the interior of an electric car, high requirements for design and functionality are provided by a scratch-resistant polymer material developed by specialists of the Scientific and Technical Center of NPP "Polyplastic" in a unique color specifically for the Atom brand.

The Atom electric car uses Russian materials that meet high quality and safety standards. At the stage of development of parts, a computer simulation was carried out, which made it possible to assess their strength and durability in advance even before production and testing. The use of innovative materials ensures the reliability of the car in any road conditions, guaranteeing the driver and passengers a high level of comfort and safety, - said Mikhail Smekalov, head of the materials department at Atom.
