2025: Discovery

In Yekaterinburg, on March 10, 2025, the official opening of the largest indoor sports facility in the Sverdlovsk Region, the UMMC-Arena ice palace, was held, investments in the construction of which amounted to ₽23 billion. The new sports facility will become the home ground for the Avtomobilist hockey club and the UMMC basketball team.

The arena is capable of hosting international competitions, including European and world championships in at least 11 sports, including hockey, basketball, figure skating and futsal. In addition to sports events, the complex is designed for concerts and other cultural events.

The opening ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials and leaders of sports federations: Secretary of the General Council of the Party United Russia"," First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Vladimir Yakushev President of the Ice Hockey Russia Federation Vladislav Tretyak, Minister of Sports of Russia, President of the Olympic Committee Mikhail Degtyarev, Governor, Sverdlovsk region Evgeny Kuyvashev Plenipotentiary of the President in the Ural Federal District Artyom Zhoga, President KHL Alexei Morozov and President ozov HC Avtomobilist andrei Kozitsyn.

President of HC Avtomobilist Andrei Kozitsyn noted that "as a child, I dreamed of becoming a hockey player. My friends and I poured ice, sewed our own protection, bent our clubs in batteries and played. And today I want my dream to come true and become a reality for as many children as possible. I would like to thank our guests of honour today because none of this would have happened without them.'

He also recalled that the decision to build a "decent house" for Avtomobilist was made jointly with Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev five years ago.

The UMMC-Arena sports ground seats 12,500 spectators during sporting events and up to 15,000 spectators during concerts. On the territory of the complex, in addition to the central sports ground, there is a full-size training field for hockey and a basketball hall. The transformation of the arena from one sport to another or the arrangement of the concert venue takes from 6 to 24 hours.

The infrastructure of the complex includes a restaurant for 100 people, buffets for spectators, athletes, staff and media representatives with a total capacity of more than 1200 seats, as well as 44 VIP boxes. The arena building is surrounded by a mesh metal frame of copper shade, into which a media garden with an area of ​ ​ more than 16 thousand square meters. m.^[1]
