The Continental Hockey League is an international league created for the development of hockey in Russia and other countries of Europe and Asia. The decision to create the League was made in February 2008.

2024: Net profit growth by 1.5 times to ₽1,86 billion

The net profit of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) in 2024 increased 1.5 times and reached ₽1,86 billion, which is ₽578,8 million more than the result of 2023. According to the report published on March 28, 2025, the league's total revenue and other revenues for the reporting period amounted to ₽4,38 billion, adding ₽413,3 million for the year.

According to Forbes, citing the league's tax statements, advertising revenues showed significant growth, which grew to ₽2,93 billion (an increase of ₽527,6 million). Revenues from broadcast rights reached ₽1,04 billion, which is ₽169,2 million more than the previous period. Targeted deductions from bookmakers made a significant contribution to the league's financial results - ₽1,01 billion, exceeding the 2023 figure by ₽354,8 million.

Kontinental Hockey League's net profit for the year increased 1.5 times

The expenditure part of the KHL budget also showed growth. The league spent ₽620,2 million on labor, which is ₽149,4 million more than a year earlier. The average annual number of employees was 157, and the average cost per employee reached approximately ₽3,95 million per year or ₽329 thousand per month.

The league's cost of sales and other expenses amounted to ₽1,99 billion, commercial expenses - ₽338,4 million, and managerial expenses - ₽664 million. KHL receivables (the amount that the league should receive) increased by ₽690,5 million and amounted to ₽1,81 billion. At the same time, accounts payable increased (the amount that the KHL owes to others), reaching ₽1,98 billion (an increase of ₽532,5 million).

The positive financial results of 2024 coincided with the record attendance of the KHL regular season of the 2024/25 season, which amounted to 5,396,844 spectators. This exceeded the previous record of 5,395,035 spectators, set in the 2014/15 season.

The 2024/25 season of the Continental Hockey League started on September 3, 2024. This season, 23 clubs from four countries played in the league: 20 teams from Russia and one club from (Belarus Minsk Dynamo""), (China Kunlun Red Star) and (Kazakhstan Barys). Each team played 68 matches, and the total number of playing days reached a record mark of 187.[1]
