MES (DCA, PM). Strip Quality Control System at Mill 1300
The project includes the following MES technologies (according to MES-11): DCA (Data Collection/Acquisition) function - data collection and storage, PM (English Process Management) - production process management. The implemented project is an innovative solution: a digital metal strip quality control system (CCPS) at the 1300 rolling mill, designed for the first cold rolling of the metal.
An advanced solution based on machine vision (CV) and artificial intelligence (AI) allows you to identify and record inconsistencies with quality standards, as well as measure bandwidth with an accuracy of 0.5 mm. The operator is provided with a summary table on defects, as well as the ability to visually assess defects and their detailed characteristics on the recorded images. The project made it possible to reduce metal consumption during final preparation, reduce the percentage of scrap and return, improve the quality of finished products and optimize the business process.
The strip quality control system with machine vision technology is one of the most promising areas digital transformation that LLC VIZ-Steel conducts at all stages of transformer rolled products production. Industrial a sample solution from LLC "" and Data Center Automation LLC "," VideoMatrix presented at LLC "VIZ-Steel," is unique in world practice.
The strip quality control system (SCCS) was installed in the CPC on a 4-stand rolling mill 1300, designed for the first cold rolling of metal from a thickness of 2.5 mm to an intermediate thickness of 0.50-0.80 mm. After processing at mill 1300, the metal is sent to the reel preparation units (APR): an edge is cut on them and defects are eliminated if they occurred during the first rolling.
The SCMS includes an installation with five machine vision modules. The installation projects laser beams onto a moving strip of metal, while a digital video camera scans them at a high frequency. If, for example, a hole appears on the strip, then the laser beam will be refracted, and the camera will record this. The vision based system not only "sees" all defects - their depth and location, but also measures the bandwidth (with an accuracy of 0.5 mm). The information received from the cameras is processed by the software package. Based on the data consolidated by him, a passport is formed for each roll of steel. In the roll passport, optimization is performed for further processing of the roll on the strip preparation unit:
- Specifies the allowed minimum bandwidth for trimming the edge based on the edge defect size analysis.
- Determine the area of the holes for stopping the strip on the unit, cutting the defect and welding the strip.
- Stop frames with defects are generated on the strip to output the operator of the strip preparation unit to the AWS.
The passport contains data on the bench batch, rolling date and all processing parameters: incoming and final metal thickness, strip width, as well as a table of detected defects. The information obtained using "machine vision" makes it possible to form an optimal task for trimming the edge of the strip.
MES (DCA, PM). Strip quality control system at APR 1
The project includes the following technologies MES (according to MES-11): DCA function (Data Collection/Acquisition) - collection and, data storage PM (English Process Management) - production process management. The project provides digital a solution for optimal trimming metal after processing at the rolling mill. machine vision The information obtained with "" at the mill makes it possible to form an optimal task for trimming the edge of the strip. The task is delivered for cutting car. APR-1 supports operator decision-making for corrective actions.
