2025
France postpones the launch of a new nuclear reactor until 2038. Construction costs rose to almost €80 billion
In March 2025, France asked EDF to accelerate plans to build six new nuclear reactors, but delayed the launch of the first until 2038.
The government is demanding more work to assess the cost and schedule of the project, and a final investment decision is expected next year. According to auditors, the cost of construction increased to almost €80 billion, taking into account inflation.

2024: France is 60.5% dependent on Russian uranium
In September 2024, it became known that France was the country with the greatest dependence on the supply of Russian uranium among unfriendly countries.
