2025: Implementing a System for Warehouse Safety

The Perekrestok retail network has introduced technology that completely eliminates the possibility of collisions of loading equipment in distribution centers. The system provides a high level of security for employees and reduces the likelihood of damage to goods and equipment. The company announced this on March 19, 2025.

As part of a pilot project at the Severny distribution center in the Moscow region, 20 units of loading equipment were equipped with sensors, lidars and motion control modules. The equipment controls the speed and angle of rotation of the loaders, as well as provides high-precision three-dimensional scanning of the surrounding space. If the system detects the risk of collision with any obstacle, the control module smoothly slows down or completely stops the transport, excluding emergency situations.

The project makes it possible to ensure a high level of safety for employees of the production and logistics complex. In addition, thanks to the introduction of equipment, the process of controlling equipment was automated. You can now track in real time which loading equipment is on the move when scheduled maintenance is needed.

In addition to motion sensors, a set of measures has been introduced in the Perekrestka distribution centers to improve the level of safety. Among them, blue spot is a light indication on the loaders, warning employees about the approach of equipment. On the territory of the RC, zones for pedestrians are allocated. In addition, safety training is regularly conducted for RC employees.

About 1.2 million boxes are processed daily at Perekrestka distribution centers - such volumes require a large amount of moving equipment inside the warehouse. The absolute priority for us is to ensure security and eliminate incidents during the work. To do this, we have implemented sensors for monitoring the movement of warehouse equipment. Already in March 2025, we plan to equip all loading equipment of the Severny shopping center with this system, which will make it one of the safest logistics centers in the industry. This is an important step not only to improve our operational processes, but also to form new safety standards in the market. In the future, we plan to scale the project to other Perekrestka logistics centers, - said Mikhail Aleshin, director of the supply chain of the Perekrestok retail chain.
