2022: Sanctions in Ukraine

On November 22, 2022, the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine (SBI) announced searches at the VS Energy office, among the shareholders of which were Giner and the former head of the VSMPO-Avisma corporation, which supplied titanium to Boeing and Airbus, Mikhail Voevodin. According to RBC-Ukraine, the company occupies 10% of the Ukrainian energy market.

Back in May 2022, VS Energy announced that Giner and Voevodin had nothing to do with Ukrainian firms. By decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, sanctions were imposed against entrepreneurs. The corresponding decree was signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky in October 2022.

2023: Bank confiscation in Ukraine

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) of Ukraine on February 24, 2023 searched the office of a commercial bank, the beneficial owner of which, according to the bureau, is Giner.

The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court (VAKS) of Ukraine confiscated on February 27, 2023 in favor of the state a majority stake in one of the Ukrainian banks, allegedly owned by a Russian businessman, president of the CSKA football club Yevgeny Giner.

"On February 27, the board of judges of the VAKS satisfied the statement of claim of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine against a Russian citizen and applied to the defendant the sanction provided for in paragraph 1-1 of part one of article 4 of the Law of Ukraine" On Sanctions. " By a court decision, the assets of the defendant, 88.890583% of the shares of the Ukrainian bank, were recovered from the state, "the VAKS Telegram channel said in a statement.

The court does not give the name of the nationalized bank and the name of its Russian owner. However, the head of the presidential faction "Servant of the People" in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, said that we are talking about the First Investment Bank (PIN Bank), the beneficial owner of which is allegedly Giner. "Today, VAKS recovered 88.89% of the shares of Evgeny Giner's PIN bank in favor of the state," Arakhamia wrote in his Telegram channel.
