2025: Fabrication of Upper Level Control System Equipment for Unit# 2

Rosatom Automated Control Systems JSC (RASU JSC, the managing company of the APCS and Electrical Engineering division of Rosatom State Corporation) has manufactured technical means of the upper block level system (ULCS) for unit No. 2 of the Kurskaya AES-2: more than 90 technical means that make up the key part of the digital automated process control system (APCS). The equipment was delivered to the landfill in Moscow for testing. There, the "brain center" of the unit will be fully assembled and connected to equipment that simulates data flows that every second represent the indicators of the power unit's technological processes under different production scenarios. Before testing, domestic software will be loaded into the equipment . This was reported to "RASU" on March 21, 2025.

It is with ULCS that the operating personnel of the power unit command post - the main control panel directly interacts. The system centrally monitors processes and provides information on the operation of the reactor, turbine, safety systems and other important parameters. From a technical point of view, this is a software and hardware complex, the main elements of which are automated workstations and a collective use screen for operating personnel, duplicated servers, a local area network (LAN) and gateway devices that ensure correct data transfer between systems.

The Rosatom enterprise has manufactured technical means for the future system, with which the personnel of the main control room, the human-machine interface and at the same time the "brain center" of the power unit interact, to which data from more than 17,000 sensors will flow. Like other safety systems for the Kursk aya AES-2, it was developed in accordance with the increased requirements for the efficiency of NPPs of the VVER-TOI project, the entire safety of the operation of these "informatized" power units will be provided by more than 22 APCS subsystems. During the tests, we will check their operation in conditions that simulate real ones, and we will be convinced of its reliability. The next stages are software installation, complex and acceptance testing, - said Andrey Butko, General Director of JSC RASU.
