In February, 2011 IBM announced an official release of the software product for requirements management of IBM Rational DOORS 9.3 and also the IBM Rational DOORS Web Access 1.4 add-on module. The user interface and also error messages are completely Russified now that allows to accustom quicker to DOORS to new users and also simplifies further interaction of staff of the company with the program. This release is the first step on the way of integration of DOORS and other IBM Rational applications based on a software platform of Jazz.


In the updated localized version of IBM Rational DOORS 9.3 key advantages are:

  • The Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) web services providing integration of the application with a software platform of IBM Rational Jazz and also solutions of the third firms. Ensuring integration with different change management systems, for example, IBM Rational Change.
  • The raised security level for the transfer account of data on the SSL protocol and also flexible configuring of settings of access.
  • The improved technology of generation of documents and reports.
  • The improved analysis tools for network filtering of requirements.
  • Expanded access to a management system for requirements for remote workers and customers.

1. DOORS 9.3 supports the Change Management specification that provides integration of services and managing programs from different suppliers, and allows to use more productively information which is contained in change management systems. In particular, integration with IBM Rational Change gives the chance to use at once two advantages:

  • The development managed by requirements, with an opportunity for users of DOORS to stimulate process of creation of a product, creating the requests for execution based on initial requirements. The status of development at the same time can be seen near the requirement in DOORS,
  • Change management using the Change Management system allows to solve one of the most important problems of all industry - a problem of control of project opportunities.

2. Additional functionality of security of DOORS 9.3 allows to protect data from accidental or intentionally harmful change. Also in this release of DOORS three components of increase in security are used:

  • Support of the SSL data exchange protocol between the server and the client,
  • Support of authentication of users on the basis of certificates on PKI technology,
  • Increase in safety of management and setup of the DOORS parameters.

3. The built-in functionality allows to generate easily documents of the Microsoft® Word format on the basis of information of DOORS. The existing instruments of creation of documentation are replaced new, allowing to increase the speed of creation and quality of the created documents. These tools are free, and are initially installed in DOORS, it is convenient to use them for creation of the project documentation which often is required to be provided to the client in time.

4. In this release of DOORS there is an addition for DOORS Web Access allowing the end user of the web tool to select at any time what information he wishes to obtain. In the previous versions the user was limited in the choice of the displayed information.

5. Versions of DOORS translated to the French, German, Russian languages are released. They are already delivered, together with the English, Japanese versions, and the version in the simplified Chinese. Existence of the expanded choice will allow the large organizations to ensure to the employees functioning with the necessary tools in clear language. The user interface and error messages is translated.
