2025: Installation Plan for Additional Smart Equipment for Traffic Control and Management
The stage of development of intelligent transport systems has started in Astrakhan. By the end of 2025, the city will install additional units of intelligent equipment for controlling and managing traffic flows - 31 video detectors of transport and 9 traffic light controllers. The work will be carried out by the company "NPO" ITS "by order of the Department of Road Facilities and Transport of Astrakhan within the framework of the national project" Infrastructure for Life. " ITS announced this on March 25, 2025.
The video detector of the transport "SPIDER Traffic" of the company "NPO" ITS "determines the parameters of automobile flows: the intensity and density of movement, the speed in the flow and individual speed of the car, the number and types of vehicles that passed along a particular lane during a given period of time (recognizes up to 13 types of vehicles, including special equipment), etc. The equipment operates on the basis of neural network technologies using machine vision technologies . This ensures high accuracy and quality of the received information (detection error even on a multi-lane road does not exceed 5%).
All received information from video detectors will be transferred to the Astrakhan Traffic Control Center for operational monitoring of the situation on the city roads and prompt response to emergency situations.
The use of equipment will help us unload roads, reduce the number of congestion and make traffic in the city more comfortable, - said the head of the Department Anton Koznov. |
In 2023, the first stage of the introduction of an intelligent transport system was completed in Astrakhan. In order to further develop it, in 2024, 9 traffic light controllers were installed to switch traffic light signals, 30 video detectors transport and 1 weather station for collecting, processing and storing weather data. In 2025, in addition to expanding the fleet of "smart" equipment and modernizing traffic lights at the expense of controllers, the city plans to update some of the traffic lights - supports and cable networks for them.
