2025: Implementation of Laboratory Information Management System
On April 14, 2025, the Inviatech company (part of the I-Teco Group of Companies) announced that it had implemented a large-scale project to implement its own laboratory information management system (DES.LIMS) for the RUSAL United Company (RUSAL OK). The project covered 13 enterprises in three key divisions of the company: aluminum, alumina and grocery.
According to the company, the main goal of the project was to create a single platform for automating the work of laboratories at all enterprises of RUSAL OK, which will allow standardizing quality control processes and integrating them with production systems. To implement the project, a domestic solution of DES.LIMS, the own development of the I-Teco, was chosen.
The work began with pilot implementations in each division: the Sayanogorsk Aluminum Plant became an aluminum platform, RUSAL Achinsk JSC in alumina, and Valkom-PM LLC in Volgograd. After the successful implementation of pilot projects, replication of the solution to other enterprises began.
The project was distinguished by complexity and scale: the implementation took place simultaneously at several enterprises located in different regions of Russia - from Murmansk to Irkutsk regions. 3 types of laboratories (physical, chemical, sanitary and industrial) were automated, more than 2100 measurement methods were introduced, about 150 measuring devices were connected. The system processes more than 11,000 measurements daily. 48 integration interfaces have been developed to communicate LIMS with other enterprise information systems.
The introduction of DES.LIMS is an important step in the digital transformation of our company. This system allows us to increase the efficiency and transparency of quality management processes, as well as optimize operational interaction between laboratories and production departments of our enterprises. Improving the reliability of measurement results has become possible, including by automating data processing in a mode close to real time. In addition, the efficiency of providing data to production units has significantly increased. The successful implementation of the project lays the foundation for further digital transformation of RUSAL. noted Andrey Faerstein, Chief information officer of OK RUSAL |
During the project, various DES.LIMS modules were implemented, including sample lifecycle management, laboratory equipment accounting, regulatory reference information management, inventory accounting, intermediate control, personnel accounting, quality management system and reporting.
The DES.LIMS system developed by us fully complies with the import substitution requirements and is included in the Register of Domestic Software. This provides RUSAL with technological independence in the quality control area, which is critical for production. commented Vladimir Vezlomtsev, Deputy General Director for Production Systems "Inviatech" |
The result of the project was the creation of a unified information and technological environment in the RUSAL QA to manage laboratory processes. DES.LIMS was implemented at 8 enterprises of the aluminum division, including the largest plants in Krasnoyarsk, Bratsk and Sayanogorsk, 3 enterprises of the alumina division and 2 enterprises of the product division.
