Rosseti allocated ₽600 million to protect its facilities from UAVs

In April 2025, Rosseti announced plans to install unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) protection systems at 14 of its facilities in the Moscow region. The energy company allocated ₽604,63 million for the implementation of this project.

According to CNews, for the procurement of Rosseti, 14 separate tenders were published on the public procurement website on April 4, 2025. Applications for participation were accepted until April 9, and the results are scheduled for April 22, 2025. Of the total number of tenders, 11 have the same initial purchase amount - ₽48,7 million for each facility, and the three remaining tenders involve the allocation of ₽22,8 million for the facility.

Protective systems will be installed at the following high-voltage substations of Rosseti in the Moscow region: Zhulebino, Borisovo, Penyagino, Baskakovo, Saburovo, Golyanovo, Ilovaiskaya, Khlebnikovo, Yuzhnaya, Butyrki, Yasenevo, Teply Stan, Khovanskaya and Lesnaya.

The terms of reference state that anti-UAV systems are designed to detect and counter small civilian unmanned aircraft. The purchase is carried out within the framework of the implementation of the Decree of the Government of Russia of August 3, 2024 No. 1046 "On Approval of Requirements for Ensuring Security and Anti-Terrorist Protection of Fuel and Energy Complex Facilities."

Rosseti Group is one of the largest power grid holdings in the world, providing power to consumers in 82 regions of Russia. The company manages 2.5 million km of power lines and electrical substations with a total capacity of 877 thousand megavolts-amperes. More than 80% of all electricity generated in the country is transmitted through the Rosseti networks. The group includes 45 subsidiaries and affiliates, including 19 distribution network companies, and the total number of personnel is about 235 thousand people.[1]
