2025: Axelot WMS Rollout

Accumulator plant Kaynar-joint stock bank"" Kazakhstan in has implemented a system AXELOT WMS for. warehouse automation logistics The system ensures transparency and manageability of all processes, from acceptance to shipment. This was announced on July 3, 2025 by representatives of AXELOT.

As reported, the Kainar-AKB company produces batteries for cars and trucks, diesel locomotives, agricultural equipment, and the oil and gas sector.

The company's battery plant is located in Kazakhstan. A full production cycle has been introduced here - from the manufacture of components to the assembly of finished batteries. At each stage of production, the international control system ISO 9001-2001 and the technical standard TS 16949-2001 operate - all products comply with the requirements of the European standard BS EN 50342-2001 and the Japanese standard JIS D 5301. The plant produces products under the brands KAINAR, BARS, NOMAD, UNIKUM, "VOZHAK." Its capacity is 3 million batteries per year, of which more than 60% is exported to neighboring countries. In addition to production, Kainar-AKB is engaged in the safe disposal of expired batteries. The company divides them into safe components: lead and plastic.

Every day, goods are shipped from the plant, which are delivered by freight, cars by rail, as well as for customers who come for cargo on their own. The number of orders is constantly growing, and in order to ensure high-quality and timely assembly and shipment for each direction, Kainar-AKB management decided to automate the warehouse logistics and implement the AXELOT WMS system in the finished product warehouse. Its area is 3000 sq. m.

The flexible functionality of AXELOT WMS made it possible to automate all the key technological processes of the warehouse at the Kainar-AKB plant. Each transaction is now captured and tracked in the WMS, making it possible to achieve process transparency and accurate information about the location of each batch of goods in the warehouse, including its distribution to transit zones. AXELOT WMS monitors the readiness of products for shipment through the status of storage facilities: "Good," "Scrap," "Markdown," "No charge," "No bar," "No reel/strut," "No corrugation," "No thermal film" and "Incomplete." The technical control department manually sets the condition, blocking or unlocking the products when defects are detected and preventing substandard goods from entering the order. Also, the condition is visually determined by the storekeeper during acceptance.

In addition to tracking completeness, this functionality is used to account for unmarked products. AXELOT WMS automatically sends it back to production for re-labeling.

In addition to quality control, acceptance includes recalculation to detail the pallet product and their marking. The system then automatically schedules the tasks to be placed in the warehouse areas, taking into account the weight, height and results of the FMR classification. The warehouse has implemented multi-stage planning for the placement of goods, taking into account a number of criteria:

  • AXELOT WMS distributes cells based on their load capacity. If the weight of the storage place is 1510 kg or more, then its placement is planned from the first tier and above. If the weight is less than 1510 kg, then first the cells from the second tier and above are considered, and only then the first tier.
  • The system follows the rules established according to the FMR classification according to the frequency of circulation. Class F items (most frequently requested) are placed in cells of the same class close to the shipping/control area. If there is no free space in class F cells, then they can be placed in class M cells (less requested), and then in class R cells (rarely requested).

Accordingly, goods of class M are placed in cells of class M. If there are no free cells of this class, then they can be placed in cells of class R, and then in F. And finally, goods of class R are distributed in cells of class R. If there are no free cells of this class, they can be placed in M, and then in F.

The project team integrated AXELOT WMS with the Kainar-AKB corporate information system (CIS). Integration was implemented using the DATAREON Platform. The platform provides real-time communication between systems.

When a new order is created, the system starts the selection planning process in WMS. The system generates a list of tasks that the storekeeper or loader driver, who performs selection for shipment by rail or road, must perform. Planning is carried out in accordance with the FIFO principle. As soon as the product is ready for shipment, information about this comes from the WMS to the CIS. This optimizes the process of creating shipping documents in the CIS and allows you to leave enough time to issue quality certificates necessary for foreign deliveries. When the WMS records the loading of goods into road or rail transport, information about this is also automatically sent to the CIS to confirm the fact of shipment in the accounting system. In addition to NSI, managing applications and the results of their execution, the results of product condition control and other information on warehouse operations and balances required by CIS are involved in the exchange with the corporate information system.

Orders that are shipped to customers are subject to mandatory control. The controller or storekeeper scans barcodes using mobile terminals, confirms the date of production and the amount of products on the pallet. In case of excess detection, the system plans to return the goods to the warehouse areas. If a shortage is detected, the AXELOT WMS will automatically supplement the selection if there is a free suitable residue.

A feature of the project is the use of compaction functionality to form a complete pallet. The system provides employees with information about the possibility of combining goods taking into account the requirements for the composition of the full pallet and, after the completion of the "compaction," automatically plans to send new pallets to production, where packaging and paleting are carried out.

The functionality of the system covers not only all storage areas, but also the packaging area at production. In this area, with the help of shipping documentation, not only re-equip and re-mark, but also perform other actions that are required to adapt the products to the individual requirements of the customer.

AXELOT WMS has taken on the full load of managing freight turnover, reducing the impact of the human factor and ensuring the continuity of key business processes. Thanks to the system, logistics operations have become more transparent, which allows the Kainar-AKB plant to monitor the execution of all warehouse operations in real time, as well as collect and analyze information about the work of the warehouse and personnel.
