2025: Product Announcement
In early June 2025, Promobit announced the first data storage system (DSS) in Russia based on the domestic Baikal-S processor. The development is focused on the corporate and government segments and is designed to store critical information with increased security requirements. The cost of the equipment is tens of millions of rubles, depending on the configuration.
According to CNews, the first series of 20 devices will go on sale in the third quarter of 2025. Production will be organized at the company's facilities in Omsk.
The data storage system is already included in the register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and is intended for government customers. The device is equipped with two redundant controllers on the Baikal-S processor and occupies two units in the rack. The DSS can use up to 24 NVMe U.2 format drives.
The system operates on proprietary software BITBLAZE - BlazeX, which is included in the registry of the Ministry of Digital Development. The device supports the symmetrical active operation of two controllers and has a domestic case, a motherboard, a processor, internal connection boards and a power supply.
The boards are designed in Russia, surface installation is also carried out in the country. For a serial batch of boards, it is planned to be manufactured at the domestic enterprise "Resonance."
Experts interviewed by the publication doubt the prospects of such projects due to the low availability of Baikal processors.
| Russian processors do not have localized production, and the prospects for placing quite large orders from foreign manufacturers are currently doubtful, - said Alexander Koltsov, engineer of the NTI Center "Digital Materials Science: New Materials and Substances" of the Moscow State Technical University named after N.E. Bauman.[1] |
