The Russian Ministry of Defense presented the emblem of a new type of troops - troops of unmanned systems. The symbols in November 2025 were presented in a video published on the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Defense.

The emblem is a crossed arrow and sword, over which an image of a microcircuit with a gold star is superimposed. On November 12, 2025, the deputy head of the new type of troops, Lieutenant Colonel Sergei Ishtuganov, said that the troops of unmanned systems were created in the Russian Armed Forces.^[1]

On June 12, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking at a meeting to consider the main parameters of the draft state weapons program for 2027-2036, announced the creation of a new kind of troops as part of the Russian Armed Forces. We are talking about troops of unmanned systems.

I note that now we are creating troops of unmanned systems as a separate type of troops, and it is necessary to ensure their maximum rapid and high-quality deployment and development. We know how the enemy acts. But in general, I do not think that we are somewhere late here, "Putin said.

According to him, by June 2025, there is a rapid increase in the effectiveness of the combat use of drones. They are able to disable armored vehicles, strongholds, communication systems, transport, enemy manpower, the head of state said.

He also cited data according to which 50% of Ukrainian equipment is affected by UAVs. The President pointed to the variety of combat missions for which drones are used: reconnaissance, electronic warfare, mining and demining of the area.

As the ex-commander of the Pacific Fleet, Admiral Sergei Avakyants, explained to Izvestia, the type of troops is an organizational structure and for it it is necessary to create a theoretical construction of operational art.

That is, to create a theory and practice of preparing and conducting military operations of an operational scale (operations, battles, strikes). This is moving in the right direction, the main thing is that it is not just a sign on the office door. It is necessary to think over the training system for both sergeant-privates and officers. To do this, it is necessary to make changes to the curricula - to create special faculties or educational institutions of secondary and higher education. Innovations should also affect existing military academies, in particular the Academy of the General Staff, - said Avakyants.[2]
