2025: Completion
By August 2025, the construction of a large solar power plant with a capacity of 100 MW and investments of ₽6,2 billion are being completed in the Derbent district of the Republic of Dagestan. The facility is scheduled to enter service in the first quarter of 2026, making it one of the largest solar power plants in Russia. The project is being implemented by Novaya Energia LLC as part of the development of renewable energy sources in the region.
According to RBC, the Derbent solar power plant will be located on an area of 305 hectares provided by the government of Dagestan. The cooperation agreement was signed between the government of the republic and the Solar Systems group of companies.
The new solar power plant will provide the region with 140 million kWh of clean energy per year. This will significantly increase the share of renewable energy sources in the energy balance of Dagestan and reduce dependence on traditional fuels.
The project will create 25 permanent jobs after commissioning and up to 200 temporary jobs during the construction phase. The creation of new jobs will contribute to the socio-economic development of the Derbent region and increase the level of employment of the local population.
Annual tax deductions from the operation of the power plant to the budget of the republic will amount to ₽60 million. These revenues will allow the regional authorities to finance social programs and infrastructure projects in Dagestan.
Minister of Energy and Tariffs of Dagestan Marat Shikhaliev noted the significant potential of the republic for the development of renewable energy sources. According to him, the region has a solar, wind and hydropotential potential, which attracts investments in the renewable energy sector. Shikhaliev stressed that the ministry creates the necessary conditions for the implementation of such projects. The full-scale launch of the Derbent Solar Power Plant is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.[1]
