In 2023, 70 projects aimed at developing tourism infrastructure received state support in the region. Among them are 16 initiatives related to the development of beaches and tourist routes in the amount of ₽131,7 million, 18 projects to create modular non-capital accommodation facilities (campsites and car camps) in the amount of ₽82,1 million and 34 projects to modernize tourism infrastructure, for which ₽104,9 million were allocated.

One of the largest infrastructure projects was the financing of the tourist code of the Derbent city center in the amount of ₽252,5 million. Also, subsidies were provided to seven projects in six municipalities of the republic to implement local initiatives aimed at improving conditions for travelers.

In 2024, the region will receive ₽525,3 million for the further development of modular non-capital accommodation facilities, which will create 550 new rooms. In addition, it is planned to attract more than ₽1 billion private investments to expand the tourism potential of Dagestan.

The national project "Tourism and Hospitality Industry," implemented at the initiative of the President Russia Vladimir Putin since 2019, aims to increase the number of domestic travel to 140 million per year by 2030. 2025: Allocation of ₽1,45 billion for digitalization of education

2024: More than 15 killed in militant attack in Derbent and Makhachkala

The celebration of June 23, 2024 of one of the most revered Orthodox holidays - Holy Trinity Day - was overshadowed by a series of terrorist acts in the Caucasus region.

In the evening, militants staged a series of attacks in the Republic of Dagestan.
