2023: Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation creates a single biometric digital travel card
The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has included the project of a single biometric electronic travel card in the strategy of digital transformation of the transport industry. This was reported on the website of the department in early August 2023.
According to the document, the project "Green Digital Passenger Corridor," namely the creation of a digital passenger profile, a single digital fare payment tool for all types of transport (using biometrics technologies) in particular, is key to achieving the goal of digital transformation. To implement the project, it is planned to equip 700 transport infrastructure facilities with biometrics systems by 2030. Also, passengers will be able to use barrier-free fare in 600 cities of Russia, the document says.
According to the Ministry of Transport, biometric technologies make it possible to increase the level of service for passengers, including reducing the time for pre-trip procedures, ensure the necessary level of transport security, reduce the number of criminal and fraudulent actions and reduce the downtime of vehicles.
The "Green Digital Passenger Corridor" project also assumed that in 2024:
- the unmanned Lastochka will carry the first passengers on the Moscow Central Ring;
- on key highways, transportation will be carried out by drones;
- the delivery of goods of the "first and last mile" using drones was ensured;
- mass use of unmanned railway rolling stock for transportation of passengers and cargo.
In addition, by 2030, the mass commercial use of drones of all types of transport for the delivery of passengers and goods is planned; transportation of goods from China Europe to through the territory of Russia by drones.[1]
