2026: Record Fast QCD Adoption for Hoff: Sixfold Analytics Acceleration and Payback for the Year
A large-scale project to create a modern corporate data warehouse based on Arenadata DB has become a key element in the digital transformation of the largest domestic furniture retailer. It has allowed for an escape from digital chaos and a foundation for dealing with data as a strategic asset. [1]Learn more here.
The project, implemented in just 10 months, was a brilliant example of a systemic approach. The Hoff Tech and NORBIT teams were progressing towards the goal in stages. They began with standardization and automation: they described the standards and regulations of work, digitalized the processes for developing data streams. Then, to maximize compliance with business logic, NORBIT specialists created functional requirements for 21 data storefronts, covering hundreds of indicators for analytical teams.
The next step was to implement a large-scale migration by integrating storage with three key source systems. 446 objects were unloaded into the raw layer, 380 objects were unloaded into the QCD core, 17 display cases were transferred. The total amount of data processed was about 35 TB.
In the final phase, the data model was reengineered - it was completely redesigned to optimally take into account business demands and productivity growth. The update was achieved due to the features of Arenadata: a massively parallel architecture, column storage with compression, and an integrated optimizer. The availability of monitoring, management and backup tools has simplified cluster administration.
2025: QCD Transition Plan
Norbitol together with Hoff Tech"" will ensure the transition of a network of hypermarkets of furniture and household goods Hoff to a modern corporate storage (data QCD). The project will improve the efficiency, reliability and scalability of storage and processing information in the company. Norbit announced this on September 9, 2025.
Before the start of migration, the Hoff corporate data warehouse was built on the basis of a foreign solution, with the download of data from several sources. At the initial stage of the project, NORBIT experts conducted a detailed pre-project survey, following which a migration roadmap was built.
In the transition, it was important not only to improve the user experience in analytics while maintaining the horizontal scalability of the system, but also to reduce the cost of developing, changing, and supporting an IT solution. The Arenadata DB MPP system has been chosen to organize QCD, which ensures storage reliability and increased speed of analytical data processing. In addition, integration with the Kafka service ensures the efficiency of information transfer from sources.
The project is the first stage of development, in which the reengineering and migration of all components of QCD to Hoff will be carried out. NORBIT specialists have created functional requirements for 21 storefronts, covering a large number of indicators and metrics within analytical teams. Thus, it was possible to integrate with three source systems. The team plans to upload 276 data objects to the raw layer, 110 objects to the storage core. The total number of attributes is 861, which is about 35 TB.
| The project has just started, but we are already feeling the business effects of the introduction of QCD. The NORBIT team reorganized the key principles of interaction with big data: optimized resources, modernized the architecture of the solution and ensured its flexibility. Analytics have become more accurate, system performance has accelerated - we have clear standards for working with information. We plan to continue cooperation in this direction and automate the amount of data not yet covered by digitalization, said Maxim Smirnov, director of data management at Hoff Tech.

| The introduction of corporate data warehouses is not just a trend, but a prerequisite for digital business transformation. QCD gives companies tools for strategic planning, accounting and analysis. This is especially pronounced in retail, where such optimization can reduce costs, more efficiently predict demand and orchestrate customer information. Business also gets predictive analytics opportunities, which means it can build a long-term development strategy with greater confidence, noted Artem Ivakin, Director of Business Development at NORBIT.
