2026: AqNOS 7.6.0 with High Availability Technology

On January 28, 2026, Aquarius introduced the updated AqNOS 7.6.0 network OS for AQ-N3000, AQ-N5000 and AQ-N6000 series switches. The main changes in the release are aimed at improving the reliability of the network infrastructure and expanding the possibilities for its segmentation.

The main update to AqNOS 7.6.0 is High Availability (HA) technology for AqStack switch stacks. Now the stack, combining up to 16 devices, supports the hot standby role.

Benefits:

  • Reduce network outages - When a Master fails, its functions automatically switch to Standby without breaking network connections, minimizing downtime.
  • Nondisruptive maintenance: Scheduled upgrade or repair of the master device can be done without taking the network out of service as long as the standby module supports its operation.

The first phase of the implementation of AqStack HA includes the operation of key functions: STP/RSTP/MSTP protocols, static and dynamic (LACP) link aggregation, as well as PoE and local user management.

The second important update is support for layer 3 subinterfaces (L3 subinterfaces). The feature effectively isolates traffic and optimizes port usage.

Pros:

  • Resource savings: Multiple independent routed networks can be created on a single physical port or aggregated link.
  • Security and compliance: The solution is suitable for logically separating traffic from different DPC tenants, CII loops, or business units using a common physical line.

Open publication of release details and development plans is part of our trust-based strategy. We are consistently developing AqNOS so that it fully meets the needs of Russian corporate customers and data center operators, "said Artem Drozhzhin, Director of the Telecommunications Solutions Department.

2025: AqNOS version 7.5.0

Aquarius (Aquarius) on September 22, 2025 introduced the AqNOS operating system version 7.5.0, a comprehensive solution for optimizing the management of Aquarius network switches. The updated version significantly expands the network infrastructure administration functionality, providing increased operational efficiency in data centers (data centers) and campus networks.

Version 7.5.0 increases the range of operation of the basic stacking functions of AqStack, which appeared in release 7.4.0. AqStack - combining up to 16 Aquarius N3000 and Aquarius N5000-24X2C series devices in any combination using dedicated 40G/100G interfaces.

For authentication, authorization and accounting (AAA), support for simultaneous operation with several servers of the Remote Authentication Dial In User Service (RADIUS) with request balancing and built-in means of testing the availability of the RADIUS service (with a local account) were added. The release includes the ability to configure automatic saving of the switch configuration and automatic archiving of the configuration to an external file server.

This combination of capabilities confirms the strategy of Aquarius: both the hardware base and proprietary software are constantly developing and complementing each other so that with each release the product becomes more powerful, more reliable and easier to operate.

Also in this release, the capabilities of previously implemented functions were expanded. For example, to improve fault tolerance, the Dual-Active Detection (DAD) feature has been improved to provide additional protection when a split-brain situation occurs in a peer-link situation, which combines two devices into an MLAG pair. MLAG-pair switches have also been expanded to work together with L2 domains Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP).

In addition, the update includes support for Equal-Cost Multi-Path Routing (ECMP) traffic balancing in Virtual Extensible LAN (VxLAN )/Ethernet VPN Ethernet VPN (EVPN) overlay topologies. The updated release also integrates support for BGP local-AS and BGP as-path relax functions, which provide additional flexibility in different interaction scenarios. In addition, the number of Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) identifiers has been increased to 400. A configuration profile was developed to expand the number of L2 multicast records and LPM routes on the AQ-N6000 and AQ-N5000-48Y8C platforms.

Aquarius always listens to the needs of its customers, so it regularly updates the operating system. AqNOS release 7.5.0 includes both advanced features introduced in previous versions and new features for operation. Such changes will allow users to ensure a higher level of safety and flexibility in the operation of Aquarius switches, "commented Artem Drozhzhin, director of the telecommunications solutions department at Aquarius.
