2025: Designation of State Nature Reserve

The Cape Martyan State Nature Reserve will appear in Yalta on the basis of the regional park of the same name. The corresponding decree in mid-October 2025 was signed by the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.

As noted, the area of Cape Martyan is one of the few preserved reference Mediterranean landscapes of Crimea with a unique composition of terrestrial and marine life. Relict forests of high juniper (Juniperus excelsa) grow there in its natural environment, and the fauna has more than 1,300 species of animals, some of which are listed in the Red Book.
