2026: President of the Laser Association of Russia

The Laser Association of Russia (LAS) was headed by Nikolai Nikolaevich Evtikhiev, president of VPG LaserONE (cluster "SF Tech" of Softline Group of Companies). The decision on his election was made following a vote of the members of the association. Ivan Borisovich Kovsh, the permanent leader of the LAS over the past decades, will continue to work in the status of Honorary President and Adviser to the LAS Board. The Laser Association of Russia is a professional community that has been determining the development of the domestic laser and photon industry for more than 35 years. Created at the junction of the Soviet and Russian periods, the association became a key point in the assembly of the industry: within its framework, laser-technological centers were formed in Moscow, St. Petersburg and the Urals, programs were launched to increase the production of laser equipment.

The association coordinates the efforts of photon technology manufacturers and consumers, develops international cooperation and conducts key industry events such as the Photonics exhibition, and also publishes a specialized Laser inform magazine.

The key task of the new stage is to transfer the association to a systemic development mode. It is necessary not only to preserve infrastructure and expertise, but to strengthen the industry, build sustainable interaction with the state and bring real benefits to market participants, "Nikolai Evtikhiev emphasized.

The President of VPG LaserONE (VPG Lazeruan LLC) noted that laser technologies are used far beyond the classical industry. As an example, he cited the development of regional laser centers, where photon analysis technologies allow determining the deficit of trace elements in greenhouses from the spectrum of plant leaves and point to control the growth of crops.

The use of laser irradiation allows rapid healing of microdamages in animals and avoiding the use of antibiotics. This directly affects both the quality of products and the health of consumers, - explained Nikolai Evtikhiev.

Over the years, almost everything has been preserved - infrastructure, expertise, people. But then it is necessary not just to preserve, but to strengthen: to build sustainable interaction with the Ministry of Industry, with the Russian Academy of Sciences, to make the association bring more real benefits to the participants and cease to be solely enthusiastic, - said the President of LAS.

He recalled that many analytical and expert materials in the industry have so far been created in fact "on an honest word," which is unacceptable for a sector with federal significance.

In the new management model, Nikolai Evtikhiev will focus his efforts on strategic development, and Ivan Kovsh will oversee the work on preserving and developing the capabilities of LAS in expertise while maintaining historical continuity.

Experts note that the change of leadership occurs at a time when photonics and laser technologies become critical for industrial sovereignty, medicine, agro-industrial complex and science. The strengthening role of LAS can be a factor in the consolidation of the industry and more active dialogue with the state.
