2025: Launch of the second phase of the Air Crossing project
In Yakutia, the second stage of the Air Crossing project was launched - a service for the regular delivery of small-sized cargo using drones between Yakutsk and the village of Nizhny Bestyakh, located on the opposite side of the Lena River. This was announced by the Press Center of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in Moscow on November 13, 2025.
During the first stage, which began in July 2025, drones transported about 600 kg of cargo across the Lena River. Operators operated up to ten flights a day. In one flight, the drone can take up to 10 kg of cargo, the travel time is 15 minutes.
The second stage of the project will take place in one of the most difficult periods for transport - during freezing at a temperature of -30 degrees - the season during which a stationary ice cover is installed on the reservoir and there is no other possibility for transporting goods across the river except for UAVs.
| The use of drones will be a real solution to ensure uninterrupted communication between settlements in the offseason. This will significantly reduce logistics costs, including reducing the delivery time of goods by 2-3 times and reducing the cost compared to other routes, "said Anatoly Semenov, Deputy Prime Minister of Yakutia. |
