2024: The production of contact lenses and glasses in Russia for the year increased by 22.4% and reached 690.5 thousand units

The production of contact lenses and glasses in Russia in 2024 amounted to 690.5 thousand units, an increase of 22.4% compared to 2023. This is evidenced by the data of the analytical company Alto Consulting Group, released in October 2025.

The increase in volumes is due to an increase in demand for correctional products, an increase in the number of people with visual impairments and an expansion of the range of domestic manufacturers. The Central Federal District became the leader, providing 63.6% of all supplies to the Russian market.

The production of contact lenses and glasses in Russia increased by 22.4% over the year

The dominance of the Central Federal District is explained by the high population density, the developed infrastructure of optical centers and the presence of large industrial complexes for the production of glasses and lenses. The concentration of production provides logistical advantages in the distribution of products.

The role of other regions is growing - the North-West and Volga, where new production facilities and optics centers are opening. The development of production in the regions reduces the dependence of the industry on one geographical center.

The Russian market for glasses and contact lenses continues to actively develop under the influence of several key circumstances. The increase in consumer demand is due to an increase in the number of people who need vision correction. Technological improvement - new materials and production methods make it possible to expand the range of lenses and improve the quality of products.

For the period from 2022 to 2024, the average cost of glasses, lenses and their parts among manufacturers increased by 13.5% - from ₽133,5 apiece to ₽151,5 apiece. The increase in price reflects an increase in material costs and the introduction of technological innovations. In May 2025, there was a slight decrease of 3.9%, the average price was ₽158,7 apiece. The adjustment indicates a short-term stabilization after the growth period.[1]
