2025: Messenger Development

Russia announced the development of a multifunctional communication platform called "Lightning," which is being conducted jointly with China. The presentation of the project took place in 2025. The Russian technological partner was Red Soft, the Chinese one was Passion Tech.

According to CNews, the initiative is aimed at creating a digital solution for business and private users from the Russian Federation, China and the BRICS states. The development is due to the limited functionality of global messengers in these markets and the need for convenient tools for cross-border interaction. Taking into account the growth of tourist and business flows between countries, the platform is designed to solve the problems of communication, payments and access to services abroad.

The general director of the company "Lightning" Mikhail Tolpyshkin said that the messenger will become only one of the components of the system. At the first stage, a financial service is integrated into the application for converting currencies, paying for purchases through QR codes and cross-border transfers. According to Tolpyshkin, the platform will also include tools for creating marketplaces and the so-called "social layer," including a short video service.

The company's marketer Ksenia Slukina emphasized the importance of the ecosystem approach behind the project. Vyacheslav Komlev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Red Soft, noted the uniqueness of the application aimed at creating a technological bridge between countries.

Representatives of "Lightning" claim that in the future it is planned to support electronic signatures with double certification according to the standards of Russia and China, as well as an emergency notification module.

Initially, the functionality of the service is aimed at tourists, and in the future the platform is promoted among entrepreneurs and content creators.^[1]
